Quality of Life

The Technology Center is located inthe heart of Bloomsburg, a community of 12,000 that holds the distinction of being the only incorporated town in the state of Pennsylvania. The U.S. Post Office, a town library and Main Street are all just outside the Technology Center's front door. A five minute walk will take you to one of a dozen distinctive restaurants. Downtown Bloomsburg has become a model to other communities involved in revitalization. A section of the town has been named a National Historical District. Half a mile away are a beautiful town park and the campus of Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.

A Cultural Haven

Though Bloomsburg retains the charm of a small town, cultural opportunities abound. The Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble is known-nationally for the quality of it's productions. The area is home to numerous visual artists, including painters, photographers, ceramicists and sculptors. Bloomsburg University, in addition to hosting a student theatre group of its own, has eight performing groups, one of which welcomes participation from community members. In September, the Bloomsburg Fair attracts over half a million visitors to the area and highlights the rural heritage of the region. Each April, Renaissance Jamboree, an all-day fair, brings family entertainment and arts and crafts to Main Street.

Living in Bloomsburg

Today, as with many communities, the downtown business district is a focal point. Another of Bloomsburg's best known features is Town Park, which offers many acres of recreational activities including baseball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, a fitness trail, the Bicentennial Bandshell and an extensive playground. Live theatre, art galleries, concerts in Town Park and annual festivals contribute to the town's rich cultural diversity. Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble features a variety of classical and modern plays. Several local art galleries offer hometown paintings to modern sculpture. The annual Town Park Festival, Covered Bridge Festival, and Renaissance Jamboree provide opportunities for residents to gather and celebrate their community.
